GENOME PROJECTS

The challenge now is to locate all functional units within genomic sequences. Genes are predicted using trained in silico models as GENSCAN, GeneMark and FGenesh and supporting evidence is gathered yielding bio-informatics tools in specialized databases and Gene Expression Analysis.

The key to success is the interpretation of Gene Prediction and supporting evidence. GreenAcres core business is to offer these for AgroFood related Genome Projects. GreenAcres builds Physical Maps for (local) sequencing, integrates all project data in FPC, runs Gene Predictions and Annotations suited for the genomic sequence in study and builds Gene Inventories from transcriptome data.

GreenAcres is founded by John Groenendijk January 1st 2007 and is based in Wageningen, The Netherlands
. The new venture is initially financed through the Life Science Action Plan of the Dutch Government through a Biopartner First Stage Grant 2005-2007.

GreenAcres now has facilities at the Wageningen University and Research Centre GreenAcres will strengthen its position within the Food Valley concept of the region.
